DIY Wisconsin String Craft

Supplies Needed: Piece of wood
Nails
Hammer
String (I chose Red & White since they are Wisconsin colors!)

For this craft, it takes about an hour of time! I really love the look of this craft and it reminds me of home! We moved away from Wisconsin a long time ago, but it always holds a special place in my heart!
I chose to use red and white string because they are Badger colors, however, you could use any color you want for it! I chose to free hand the nails and placement and in some areas I had to re-do it. I would recommend finding a template of the state you are recreating and tracing it onto your wood ahead of time to ensure its accurate and you don't have to use any wood filler later :) You can see on mine I did a rough outline with dots, but I still found I probably should have traced a more specific picture! Oh well! Thats the point of the blog because I can share what NOT to do so yours turns out great!!

You can start from any nail on the state, and any spot on the heart or which ever symbol you have chose, in the middle as well. I tied a small knot around the first nail head and started weaving. The pattern went something like this: Outside nail, inside nail, same outside nail, different outside nail, same inside nail, next inside nail, outside nail; if that makes any sense. Its easier to understand once you have started the project, you need to loop back to the same nail to create the lines of the outside state.

Here's the final product! It really is that easy! I found a special place on my wall where I see it each day! In my ranking of DIY projects, this one is pretty near the top <3

DIY Coffee Mugs

Supplies Needed:
Paint Pens from Hobby Lobby or any craft store! You want to be sure they can be used on any surface, these are Tree House and were about $3.
Coffee mugs are from Walmart: $1.97 a piece

I made "The Gold Hammer" one form myself for my new website about empowering women, goal setting, etc. http://www.thegoldhammer.com My husband is getting the "Don't go bacon my heart" one for Valentines Day! These are super easy to make! I have seen many tutorials about people having issues with the paint not sticking. To be sure, I put mine in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes just to be sure! I haven't had an issue with paint lost :)

DIY Gold Bow Paperclips

I purchased a Day Designer this year from Whitney English. It is far more then I have ever spent on a planner, but they are so beautiful! So much so, I am afraid to write in it, lol :) BUT I needed some cute paperclips to go with it! Kate Spade makes some, but I just couldn't see myself spending money on Kate Spade paperclips, what if I lost one, eek! SO, I figured I could make them myself!

Supplies needed:
Gold Foil Paper from any craft store
Bow punch: this one happens to be a combo one & with a coupon cost me $9
Gold paperclips
Hot glue

Each piece of gold foil paper (81/2 *11 size) will make approximately 12 bows, if you put the gold paper back to back when assembling them!

Step One: Cut out all the bows with your punch.
Step Two: Place some hot glue on the center of the bow and place the paperclip there. Place another dab of glue all over the back of the bow (with the paperclip) and place the other bow over it! Viola!! Beautiful office supplies for the office supply junkie!!

Side note: After I posted a picture of these, I had many requests for people asking if I could make some for them ;)

Spray Painted Vases

I have had these vases for years, but had always had them stashed away! I finally decided to put a little gold spray paint on them & they now have a front & center spot on my bookshelves! It never ceases to amaze me how a little paint can make all the difference!!

Valentines Centerpiece

This was a project that everything was already inside my house! (Minus the heart ornaments from Michaels).
Supplies:
Bottle
Modge Podge
Gold Glitter
Sticks
Gold Spray Paint
Heart ornaments

Step 1: Find some branches outside and spray paint them gold.
Step 2: While those dry, modge podge the base of your bottle and pour glitter on while still wet. Allow to dry. I always put another layer of modge podge over the glitter to be sure it doesn't shed!
Step 3: Arrange branches & hang ornaments!

Decorative Key Jar

Supplies:
Jar
Jute Twine
Keys of old or new; I found these at Michaels in their dollar area
Hot glue gun

First Step:
Wrap the twine around the base of your jar. I secured mine with a dab of hot glue.

Second step:
Tie some string around the keys, I made mine all different lengths.
Put some hot glue into the lid of your jar and press the twine into that.
Let it dry for a couple minutes.

Third Step:
Put the lid inside your jar & enjoy your new decoration!
Easy as 1-2-3
